One of the most famous uses of Amber was in creating the “Amber Room” in Catherine the Great’s Russian palace. This room was destroyed during WWII, but has since been completely restored using newly mined amber. For thousands of years, the largest sources of Amber have been the extensive deposits along the Baltic Coast, where it is mined and recovered after heavy storms. Our natural amber beads are a deep golden yellow color and make for a very lightweight gemstone. The transparency and warm color of these amber beads make them seem to glow from within. Many of the beads have delicate brown-colored inclusions that provide interesting depth and texture.
Amber is not a rock or a mineral but a tree resin, principally from extinct coniferous trees, that have become fossilized. Most of the world's amber is in the range of 30–90 million years old!
People the world over have believed in amber’s healing properties for thousands of years. It is said to bring calm to its wearers. It can also be used as a symbol of fortitude.
