Blue Pearl can be seen on exteriors and interiors of important buildings throughout the world. Blue pearl can be found in the United Nations building in New York City and in the famous English upscale department store, Harrods. In Britain, blue pearl is also known as “Pub Stone" because this stone is often fashioned into bar counters! The glint and flash of blue pearl also makes a wonderful gemstone bead. Our blue pearl beads are a stormy, silvery gray color with flecks of black and brilliant flashes of blue. These beads have a beautiful, glossy polish that really emphasizes the flash of the stone.
Blue pearl, also known as Larvikite, is a silvery-gray feldspar mixture that displays opalescent flashes of bright blue. The name of this stone originates from the town of Larvik, Norway, where this type of igneous rock is found. The stone can contain apatite, olivine, and quartz inclusions. The distinctive flash of this stone is known as labradorescence.
