At times, it can be hard to believe that Petrified Wood really exists. The remains of millions-of-years-old trees, Petrified Wood is also known as fossilized wood. Unlike other fossils, petrified wood is still found in three dimensions, and not flattened out with time and pressure.
Petrified wood resulted from trees and other ancient plants becoming stone through mineralization, after being buried underneath saturated ash or sediment. This creates stone with the composition of chalcedony, jasper, and sometimes opal. Inclusions or iron oxide, manganese, silicon dioxide, and other components cause petrified wood to occur in a variety of colors.
Petrified Wood is said to assist with the root chakra. It is a stone of grounding and calm.
