A special subset of Amethyst, these gemstone beads combine gorgeous color with prominent cacoxenite inclusions. This stone is closely related to Purple Phantom Quartz, but has higher density and a more opaque appearance than its cousin. Inclusions are present in linear rutiles and tufts.
The name Cacoxenite comes from the Latin for “evil” and “guest.” This negative-naming refers specifically to the presence of the Cacoxenite mineral in iron ores used for smelting, undesirably weakening the finished metals. Cacoxenite inclusions usually appear in strands and tufts that are yellow, amber, and brown in color. Cut stones often appear in a variety of related hues. Cacoxenite Amethyst is most often found in Brazil and Uruguay.
Metaphysically, Cacoxenite crystals are said to promote spiritual awareness and guidance in finding a positive path.
