Citrine belongs to the quartz family. Citrine shares its Latin roots with the word citron - derived from the Latin word for yellow, citrina. The yellow color is caused by iron compounds. It is closely related to amethyst. Citrine is found on every continent, but is most often mined in Brazil.
Metaphysically, Citrine is said to encourage prosperity and success. Citrine is the traditional birthstone for November.
