Aventurine is a form of quartz, characterized by its translucency and the presence of platy mineral inclusions that give a shimmering or glistening effect. This shimmering effect is called “aventurescence”. Chrome-bearing fuchsite (a variety of muscovite mica) is the classic inclusion.
