The colors for this piece are inspired by the melted collage of color on the focal leaf (I used the Melting Pot to emboss it). The Humble Beads tiny discs are great in a project like this, where I want a great impact of color and pattern, but not the weight of glass, metal or stone. The Sari silk used is one of my favorites... the mustard tones are so earthy. Using the royal blue waxed linen and the olive craft wire allowed me to bring in some accent color without being too overpowering.

Supplies you’ll need:

  • focal created using the Melting Pot focal, 3 colors of embossing powder, clear UTEE, project craft sheet, Melting Pot
  • set of tiny disc polymer clay beads that pick up on the colors from your "melted" focal
  • a small/medium sized focal that is heavier, to weight down the collage of vocals off the Sari silk
  • 1' Sari silk
  • 1.5' 2mm leather cord
  • 5 3" snips & 1 6" snip of 22 gauge craft wire
  • 2" 9.5mmx6.5mm chain or slightly larger
  • 4 4" snips of 4 ply waxed linen
  • 18" of 4 ply waxed linen for hook

See Tip: Wire Wrap a Bead Link

Step

Step 3

Using a length of Sari Silk that has been knotted, attach a 1" length of chain. Take your chosen focal(s) and attach to the chain.

Step

Step 4

For the right side of the necklace, create a chain using 4 of the wire wrapped links you made by connecting them with waxed linen.

Step

Step 5

Connect your 5th wire wrapped link to the left side of the necklace using a couple links of chain. Knot the Sari Silk to the chain.

Step

Step 6

Knit waxed linen around the hook. Then attach hook end to the leather cord. The hook will attach to the chain on the left side.
