When I first saw these I was immediately taken back to my childhood wearing candy necklaces. Now that that image was stuck in my head I had to make a "grown-up" version. :-) The neons really pop on the black chain while the TierraCast spacers work nicely to break-up the neon and add a good balance. I think that this combination would look great dressed up or down with a monochromatic outfit (e.g. blacks, grays).

Supplies you’ll need:

  • 1 package of neon loops
  • 2 neon 6mm round beads
  • 5 TierraCast twisted spacers 2x12mm
  • 18" of matte black chain that fits through 5mm hole
  • 1 matte black swivel lobster clasp
  • 1 jump ring for clasp
  • 2 matte black eye pins

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step

Step 1

The first thing you need to do is attach the swivel lobster clasp to the end of the chain. This is important to do first so that the loops don't fall off as you string them on. Attach the eye of an eye pin to the end chain link and string on a 6mm round. Create another loop at the end of the pin and trim off the excess. Using that loop, attach the swivel lobster clasp.

Step

Step 2

Begin stringing on the neon candy loops and twisted spacers. The chain should drop smoothly through the holes. If this isn't the case, then the chain is too big.

Step

Step 3

Complete the stringing in whatever pattern you choose.

Step

Step 4

Finish off the chain in a similar way to how you began. Attach the eye of the eye pin to the end link of chain. String on a 6mm round bead and create another loop at the end of the pin, trimming off the excess. Add an 8mm jump ring to this loop for the lobster clasp attachment.
