Large hole shell pearls are so great to work with leather since the holes are 3mm. I can easily fit 2 strands of the 1.5mm leather cord through them! The knotting idea for this bracelet started off as something completely different in my head, but as most things will go, reality does not aways agree with my ideas. Either way, I adapted and the design turned out better than what I "saw" originally. :-) I can see this worn with a cozy sweater and corduroys on a night out with the girls.
Take the 3 lengths of leather cord and double over evenly. Create an overhand loop knot with enough space for a 10mm bead plus a bit of leather to pull through.
Take 2 strands of leather and string through a large hole shell pearl.
Make an overhand knot after stringing on the shell pearl. This secures the placement of the shell pearl, and allows you to divide the 2 strands of leather and pair them with different strands.
The pattern for stringing the pearls in this bracelet is more of happenstance. I started by grabbing 2 strands together on the outside and stringing on a large hole shell pearl. Then I skipped a strand and grabbed 2 more strands of leather, then stringing on another large hole shell pearl. Keep up this pattern of knotting different pairs of leather strands until you have your desired length. My length in-between the full overhand knots is 6".
When you have your desired length, make an overhand knot using all 6 strands of leather cord. Dab inside the knot with adhesive. Pull together 3 pairs of leather tails after knotting. String on a large shell pearl onto each pair of strands. Vary the lengths from 1.25"-2". These will be used to pull through the loop for closure.
Done! Note: If you want to multiply your supplies by 2.5, you could make a really cool necklace!
