How great are these bird buttons! I was sitting in the photo room talking with Andrea, trying to come up with a plan for the Czech daggers. Suddenly I said "oooh ... I could put the daggers with these Biwas and use the parrot button for a clasp! We can call it Birds of a Feather!!!" We of course laughed, but then ended up calling it that :)
The products used in this project are listed below.
Cut 2 20” lengths of 4-ply Irish waxed linen. String the Biwa pearls onto one strand and the Czech glass daggers onto the other strand.
Once all beads are strung, take both strings and tie together 4 from the ends.
Evenly group a few daggers and Biwas together along the length of the strands, knotting each group in place.
Punch 2 holes at the end of the leather strap for attaching the button using a rotary punch.
String a 7-ply 8” length of waxed linen through the button shank, then through the holes, wrapping up & through the holes a couple times.
Measure the length of bracelet and cut away the excess leather strand. Then cut in a button hole. Make sure to check that your button will fit through the hole cut. Bind each side of the button hole with the same 7-ply waxed linen used to attach the button.
Lay your beaded strand centered along the leather to mark the where the ends are the leather.
Divide the length marked in the leather into quarters and punch holes in the leather strap.
At each hole, take 8” lengths of natural color 7-ply waxed linen and loop around the beaded strand, stringing through the holes.
Wrap the waxed linen around the leather strap securing with an overhand knot. Repeat for every hole.
