These necklaces are a great accessory or gift if you're planning on spending your holiday somewhere tropical, or if you just wish you were!
Begin by making you're tassel. For the blue agate design I used 3 different colors of bead cord, and for the green agate design I used the natural hemp cord, but I untwisted the hemp before I made the tassel. You'll also want to make the tassel longer than you want at first so you can easily slide the seed beads onto the ends and tie a knot. You'll only need to tie one knot to secure the beads, and then trim off the excess. I also made the strands of hemp varying lengths.
See Tip: D.I.Y. Tassels
Slide a jump ring through the top of the tassel. Slide an eye pin through the agate slice, and attach the jump ring to the loop of the eye pin. Using round nose pliers, make a loop at the top of the eye pin-coming out of the top of the agate slice. For the green agate necklace, slide a gold large hole rondelle onto the eye pin, and then slide on the agate slice.
Wrap a piece of wire around both ends of the cowrie shell and make a loop using the round nose pliers. Using a 3mm jump ring, attach one end of the shell to the top of the agate slice. For the blue agate necklace, I used three pieces of the mermaid hemp and braided them together- I made it long enough to fit over my head without a clasp. Using a jump ring, attach the cowrie shell to the middle of the braided hemp. For the green agate necklace, I used an 18" piece of chain and attached the cowrie shell with a jump ring. The chain is small enough to just slide the jump ring over the chain, rather than attaching it to a link in the chain.
