For this focal bracelet, I sewed gemstones around a cabochon & glued the focal pieces to the cork cord. This cord is easy to work with, & there are endless design options!
Lay a 6" Piece (or whichever size fits your wrist) of cork cord out on a flat surface. Place a piece of tape all the way down the entire length of the cork so half of the cork is covered. Paint the exposed part of the cork with the gold mixative. Once it's dry, slowly peel the tape off.
Glue a large oval cabochon to the center of the cork coin focal. Once dried, cut around the cabochon, leaving a small bit of cork exposed around the edge.
Sew the 4mm beads around the cabochon. Tie a knot at the bottom of the piece of thread, pull the needle through from the back of the cork, and slide on a bead.
Once the bead is on the thread, pull the needle through from the back of the cork piece again.
Next, push the needle back through the hole in the bead. This will make the bead remain in position.
Push the needle back though the cork from the back of the piece, slide on another bead, and repeat the steps. Place a small drop of glue to the beginning & end knot of the thread to secure them.
Glue the focal to the center of the cork cord. Glue a square cabochon to the cord on both sides of the focal. Finish by attaching the crimp cord ends.
