Inspiration literally surrounds us living in the Great Lakes State. This garland is a product of that inspiration. The blue greens and warm wood & gold tones make up this wood bead garland finished with tassels. I chose to add in African Brass rounds at each end because they will weight the garland ends and because they have wonderfully large holes to tuck my cord ends back into. The tassels were made using the sparkling sari yarn, Fireworks. The sparkles in the tassels are an ode to the glimmering reflection of the sun on our lakes.
The products used in this project are listed below.
Wrap the sari or your tassel cord of choice around 4 fingers approximately 8-10x. You will have a nice size coil. Repeat this so you have 2 coils for 2 tassels.
Decide on the length of your garland. Cut your hemp or Chinese knotting cord to that length plus 12". Take one end and tie around the coil of sari, securing with a knot. Finish making your tassel by binding around the top with the same sari yarn.

Begin stringing your beads. I started with 2 African brass beads. When stringing my beads for the garland, I don't use a pattern, I just make sure I keep the sizes and colors balanced.
Just as in step 2, take the end of the cord you have strung your garland on and tie through the sari coil, securing with a knot. Make sure your beads are close together, you don't want your garland to be have gaps. Pull your tail end of hemp back through the last bead you strung. Secure your knots at both ends with adhesive.
