When I first saw this piece by Gaea, I immediately thought of making a necklace with my favorite stone - turquoise. I wanted to use smaller round beads both faceted and smooth to draw out the colors in the pendant. I think the combination of the colors in the Hubei turquoise, hessonite, apatite, and kyanite achieve that together. I love how warm and earthy it looks. Since I'm always a fan of using a contrasting but complimenting color of stringing material, I chose the .5mm C-Lon in Copper Rose. I strung this necklace to hang around the 18-19".
The products used in this project are listed below.
Gather your supplies and separate into piles or small dishes. This helps me stay organized.
Cut 2x 18" lengths of C-Lon. Tie a knot 4" from the ends, then start stringing on all of your beads for each side of the necklace. TIP: Draw some super glue along the end of your cord for about an inch. That will turn your cord into a needle :)
Once all the beads are strung, tie accent knots in between the beads, varying the spacing of knots - between every bead, every inch, or 3/4 inch. This helps with the flow of the necklace and adds a nice accent.
With the 4" at the end of your strung cord, tie over hand knots for about a 1/2". Double wrap that length of knots through the loop on the heart, securing in place with an overhand knot. Repeat on the other side. Use the remaining length of cord to add beads and to tie in the Gaea feather.
At the back of the necklace on each side create a series of overhand knots for approximately 1/4". Then string on your toggle ring, create a loop and secure with a knot and touch of adhesive. Repeat using the toggle bar.
