Get beach ready with this rose quartz donut that is adorned with this unique macraméd bail and shell. This beautiful necklace could be layered up with a strand of conch shells.

Supplies you’ll need:

Recommended tools: scissors and a lighter

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1

Cut four 12" pieces of cord. You could use more strands and make this bail wider if you want. Tie the cord into a knot at the top, leave 3" of cord sticking out of the knot. This cord may be too long, but it's always better to have extra to work with instead of being short. Clip to a board. Image two: Starting from right to left. Grab the second strand and bring it under and over the first strand on the right. Pull it upwards. Do this twice. The knot I am using is called a hitch knot.

Step

Step 2

From right to left grab the third strand and bring it under and over the second strand and pull up to create the knot. Do this twice.

Step

Step 3

From right to left grab the left cord and bring it under and over the third strand. Do this twice.

Step

Step 4

Then start over from right to left again doing Steps 1-3 until you have reached your desired bail length. The bail should fit tight around the pendant. You should have ended on the left side. Trim the two cords on the right off and use the lighter to burn the ends. Wrap the bail around the pendant and knot. Now you can start creating a square knot for the bail loop.

See Tip: Tying the Square Knot

Step

Step 5

Make sure you have done enough square knots so it is long enough to fit around your cord. Tie a knot at the end. Trim off the two middle cords and burn the ends. Fold the square knots over to form a loop and use the two strands to wrap and knot around it. You may want to criss- cross them under the bail loop to for a sturdier bail. Knot the cords on the back and trim the cord and burn the ends to secure the knot. Use a small piece of cord to attach the shell, trim the cord and burn the knot.

Step 6

String the bail onto your cord. Cut the leather cord to your desired necklace length and glue on the cord end clasp. If you want to use the conch shell as a layer to this necklace, just slide them onto some of the Linhasita cord and use a square knot to finish.
