This short 16" necklace decorates your neck perfectly with exciting colors. The ceramic and porcelain beads have a modern yet earthy vibe to them. The leather cord brings both styles of beads together. This could also be worn as a wrap bracelet. This necklace would look beautiful with a layer of pearls or your favorite chain. You will have extra beads left to make matching earrings or make a longer necklace or another bracelet.

Supplies you’ll need:

  • 1.5mm leather cord
  • Gaea heart button
  • ceramic 10mm beads in 2 colors (artist palette & sweet mint)
  • porcelain beads in light sand and matador red, 1 strand of each
  • a 1" piece of straw or a short tube to create the barrel knots with
  • 1 Gaea rondelle

Take the bottom (longer) cord and wrap it around the tube twice to the left. Feed this cord end through the tube. Push the tube to the left towards the loop. Take off the tube and pull the knot tight. Be sure the loop is big enough for the button.

Step

Step 3

Take off the tube and pull the knot tight. Be sure the loop is big enough for the button.

Step 4

Slide on the first bead, feed both the long cord and the short cord through the bead. Cut the short tail off.

Step

Step 5

Do another barrel knot. Follow the images. Lay the cord on top of the tube, wrap around the tube towards the left twice. Feed the end through the tube.

Step

Step 6

Pull the tube off and push the knot towards the left to tighten up to the bead. You may need to adjust the cord a bit so it lays nice. Slide on the next bead and continue until the end.
