Artist Palette Leather Earrings

Leather cord knots showcase the colorful 14mm ceramic beads. These earrings make this large size more accessible to use and wearable.

Supplies you’ll need:

14mm ceramic beads, I listed a few options below
1.5mm leather cord
copper jump rings
copper ear wire
porcelain beads
super glue
1" piece of a plastic straw or tube
scissors

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1

Cut 1' of cord. I like to have extra cord, especially when using barrel knots.

Step 2

Fold the cord in half to create a loop. Lay the loop over the straw or tube. Take the bottom cord and wrap it down and over the tube three times toward the left/loop. Push the coils down and pull out the tube. Tighten the knot and push up to the loop to make your loop the size you want. My loop is about a 1/2" maybe a little smaller.

Step 3

Cut the cord tails at an exaggerated angle. The holes of the ceramic beads narrow in the middle so it takes a little effort to get them through. You will need to push and twist to get them through and I used flat nose pliers to pull the cords all the way through. If you don't want to take the time to get both cords through trim off one tail and add a dot of glue to the bottom of the knot under the loop.

Step 4

Slide on a porcelain bead.

Step 5

Create another barrel knot to finish as we did in Step 2. Trim the cord tails to finish. Attach the jump rings and attach the earring to the hinged ear wires.
