I wanted to make myself a quick anklet for my trip. This anklet is full of flowering summer shimmer perfect for a tropical getaway.
Cut 1.5 arm lengths of Linhasita. Wrap the tail cord around your index finger once and lay the end of the cord next to the wrapped cord on the top of your finger. Image 1: Use the hook to go under the first cord and grab the other cord. Pull the cord under the wrapped cord. Image 2: Pull to make a loop, this create a slip knot. Image 3: Start making chains, grab the working cord from behind and bring it through the loop. Pull tighten slightly. Keep making chains to form the loop for the bead clasp. Every few chains, check if the crocheted cord can fit snuggly around the plumeria flower you want to use for the button. I had to make about 11 chains before it was long enough to create a loop that fits over a plumeria flower.
See Tip: Basic Bead Crochet
Step 2: This image is from another design using the same technique for a loop. You can always just close the loop with the knot if you decide to. Create a continuous loop: make two more chains and then fold your cord in two, bringing your crochet hook back up to the first two chains made. Continue making crochet chains into the back bumps of the first two chains until you’ve made a closed loop. Chain a many chains as you wish until you are ready to add beads.
Slide on a scallop or flower bead, create another set of chains. I made 5 chains in between each flower and scallop.
Keep going until the anklet fits.
Slide a plumeria flower onto the end of the anklet and tie two overhand knots. Trim the cord and burn the knot slightly to secure it. This flower is your button.
