Russian Amazonite Beads

Russian Amazonite gemstone beads often have a unique, streaky appearance sure to turn heads. An affordable blue-green gemstone and a dramatic visual statement all in one! We love that Russian Amazonite includes darker green color compared to its Amazonite siblings, white still maintaining the aqua and soft seafoam tones Amazonite is famous for. These semi-opaque, blue-green stones remind us of walking through a meadow in the Spring. Amazonite, also known as Amazon stone, is a classic case of mistaken identity. A greenish color stone was worn by Indigenous Peoples in the Amazon area of South America, and European colonists believed these adornments were made from a stone already familiar to them (likely Amazonite mined from Russia). The name Amazonite took off even though no Amazonite has been found in the Amazon, and the Indigenous Peoples were likely utilizing jade.

While these stones are sourced from Russia, Amazonite is found in Colorado, Virginia, China, Brazil, and other locales around the world. Amazonite is a type of microcline feldspar. It has a long history of utilization in jewelry and carving, including examples from Ancient Egypt. Because of the color of Russian Amazonite, it is occasionally mistaken for chrysoprase or turquoise.

Amazonite is said to benefit the heart and throat chakras, and help filter out stress and negative pollutions.
