I have been itching to make a summer necklace using the recycled glass. First, I had to decide which colors to use and as usual I was drawn to all the turquoise hues. The use of a couple Desert Gold pieces, leather, and Vintaj chain work really well with this color palette to give it the earthiness I was hoping for.
The products used in this project are listed below.
Select your chain and link up the ends. Lay the chain out to see how you want it to drape. I recommend marking your left and right end link with a twisty tie or a head pin so you don't loose them.

To secure the leather to your necklace, slide 1" of an end through the end chain link. Apply a touch of adhesive to the inside of the leather. Fold leather over onto the other side. Take a 6" length of heavy gauge wire and wrap tightly around the folded leather. I made my wrapping .25" long. Once you have the wrapping complete, snip off the tail of leather. Complete this step on the other end of the leather, attaching to just 1 chain link, rather than the necklace chain.
The clasp ties everything together. I chose a lamp work glass bead, made it into a charm and attached it to the single chain link off the leather cord. For the loop the glass bead is to go through, I made a leather link. Make sure that your glass bead or button can go through the larger loop in the link.
Embellish some links on the chain and the wrapping on the leather link clasp. I used 24 gauge wire and magatama seed beads.
I adorned the necklace with recycled glass. For pieces that have large enough holes, connect them to the necklace chain using extra links of your chain or Vintaj etched jump rings. I added in a few clusters of charms to help fill out the necklace.
